Blood Witch

A depiction of a Blood Witch in The Spook's Bestiary.

Blood Magic is the most basic of the types of magic practiced by witches. Practitioners may progress to practice additional magics, such as bone magic or familiar magic, and many witches who primarily utilise these other forms will practice Blood Magic from time to time throughout their lives. Blood also often featured in rituals, especially at the time of the four main witches' sabbaths (February, April, August, and October).

Strengths[]

  • Drinking blood can grant the witch increased strength, agility, and longevity.
  • Used to summon spirits to destroy enemies.
  • The blood of human children is often the most sought after, as it is considered to have greater potency than adult blood. In times of desperation, a witch will stoop to drinking the blood of animals, such as rats, with the implication that such blood provides negligible power.
  • Water witches use blood as sustenance, unlike their more human brethren who drink it mainly for power, in conjunction with at least partially ordinary food.
  • Mouldheels can use blood to increase their scrying abilities.
  • Can be used as combination with other witch magic.
  • A blood witch's repeat consumption of blood and raw flesh renders their breath foul like a dog's, something a trained Spook would be quick to notice.

Weaknesses[]

  • Blood must be used the day before a full moon.
  • Weakest form of witch magic.
  • The foulness of its practitioners makes them among the most obvious of witches.
