The Spook's House is a location in the Wardstone Chronicles.
Description[]
The house is located near the village Chipenden. It is the local spook, John Gregory’s, residence during summer, spring and possibly autumn. Inside the house, exists a library, which has been added to by many generations of spooks. A powerful cat shaped boggart, Kratch guards the house as well as cooking for its inhabitants.
History and heritage[]
It has been passed down many generations of spook's; once belonging to Henry Horrocks, who then passed it onto John Gregory and then after Gregory's death, the house was given automatically to Tom Ward.
As for the age of the house, it is unknown. However, it is more than likely to be over 70 years. This is because John Gregory's term as a spook was over 60 years, plus the length of Horrock's term, which is unknown.
Around the year 1700, the house was burned down by soldiers who were traitors, and committing treason, while Tom, John and Alice Deane were in Greece. When the three came upon the smouldering ruins, the old spook, instantly organised the house to be rebuilt, which after a while, was.
